Hello and welcome to my corner of the internet! I’m Angel Yalda, a passionate architectural designer based in Canada, specializing in kitchen and bath design. My journey into the world of design began at a young age, where creativity was my playground. Whether I was coloring, painting, or building with blocks, I was captivated by the art of creating. As I grew, it became clear that I wanted to turn my passion into a career that allowed me to explore my creative side while making a tangible impact on people’s lives.
Educational Journey
My academic path took me to OCAD University, where I earned my Bachelor of Design in the Environmental Design program. This foundation equipped me with the skills and knowledge needed to understand the intricate relationship between space and function. Driven by my love for kitchen and bath design, I pursued a Graduate Certificate at Georgian College, where I had the honor of receiving second place in the DDA’s Universal Bath Design Student Competition. This experience deepened my understanding of aging in place and the importance of universal design principles in creating accessible and functional spaces.
Professional Experience
Over the past five years, I’ve honed my craft while working with luxury interior design and custom cabinetry companies. These experiences have not only expanded my technical skills but also allowed me to learn from industry professionals who share my passion for design.
At just 24, I took the plunge and founded my own business, Two Tone Interiors, in February 2020. It was an exciting leap into entrepreneurship! I specialize in kitchen and bath design, with a particular focus on custom cabinetry and built-ins. Running my own business has been a journey filled with challenges and rewards. “It takes a lot of self-discipline to run your own business, but when you’re passionate about what you do, the motivation to strive for success is always there,” I always say.
Building Lasting Relationships
In the past few years, I’ve been fortunate to develop positive relationships with clients, thanks to my commitment to delivering consistent and impressive design services. Much of my business comes from referrals, which speaks to the satisfaction of my clients. As I continue to manage all aspects of Two Tone Interiors, I’m always setting new goals and seeking ways to expand my knowledge and skills.
In 2023, I became a member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) to stay engaged with the industry. I participated in NKBA design competitions, winning second place in the Small Kitchen category for the 2024 Design Competition and first place in the Best Traditional Kitchen category for the NKBA Ontario/Canada Chapter. These accolades inspire me to keep pushing the boundaries of my creativity.
My Design Philosophy
As a lover of art and design, my passion lies in transforming my clients’ dreams and ideas into beautiful, functional realities. I believe that a great designer is a great listener, and I prioritize my clients’ happiness throughout every stage of the project. Understanding their needs, wants, and lifestyles allows me to create captivating designs tailored to their unique styles.
The most rewarding part of my job? Seeing my clients happy and ensuring they have a wonderful experience. With a sharp eye for detail, I strive to transform any space into a functional oasis that people will cherish for years to come. My goal is to provide professional design services that create quality spaces—ones that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also practical and livable.
